Elegant Elephant Mirtillo

This weekend was again an active one! Yesterday we were at the race track in Lelystad, where Tillo ran a new personal best: 350 m in 30,95 s.

Today we had an agility match in Nieuwegein. Tillo ran off to explore a tunnel in his first round, a speed jumping, which resulted in a DQ.. he still finished this round quite nicely though. His second round was a disaster. Tillo loves, loves, loves the contacts (even more than the tunnels!) so he tried to run off towards them a bit too often. Again, the end was nice.. And he had all his contacts ;)

The third round was a jumping. Tillo did great, except for the fact that it was hot, Tillo was tired and the 'Large' jumps are actually a bit too high for him.. So he decided to go under one of the jumps instead of jump it.. a third DQ for us, but we had fun and learned a lot :) There was also a 'fun race': you could enter as often as you wanted and pay a small amount of cash per round. This was a difficult round, but Tillo did fantastic! He ran his round flawless in 27 seconds! When we left in the afternoon, the best time for the Large dogs was 26.82, so we were really proud of Tillo!

We didn't take any pictures ourselves, but hopefully we'll receive some of other photographers that were present. Job did bring the video camera.. so here some moving pics of us!

Yesterday we were at the race track in Huenstetten, Germany. The Basenji Klub Deutschland organized a Basenji race and of course, Tillo wanted to compete as well! We had really nice weather and the company was just lovely. Besides that, Tillo had a lot of fun racing at the beautiful sand track. He ran two nice times: 31.37 seconds in his first race and 31.65 seconds in his second race (350 m). The best time counted and with this result he became 5th best male in open class, right after number four: Thabo ran his first and fastest round in 31.36 seconds! He ran his second round in 31.68.. Would have been fun to see these boys compete 'man-to-man'! Would definitely have been a photo finish! Who knows, maybe in the near future..? ;) :)

Job made some nice pictures of the Basenjis at the track. You can find them here.

Socializing :)
Last weekend we visited Germany. We left home on friday afternoon and before we left the Netherlands we made a quick stop in Naarden to pick up our new dog scooter. I posted a video of our first try on YT. You can find it on the bottom of this post.

We arrived in Germany quite late in the evening, so after a quick walk we headed to bed. The next morning we ate a delicious breakfast and went to Trechtingshausen to visit the German Basenji Speciality. Not only did we meet lots of nice looking Basenjis, we also met some really great Basenji people. Some we already knew and some new ones as well. After the show we went to eat at a restaurant that was reserved for Basenji people. We had a lovely time with great company! A big "thank you" to Sabine Nagel, Dorota Müller and their partners for making this such a pleasant evening :)

Tillo, Kibibi and Aloua
We didn't enter Tillo for the Speciality on Saturday, but that didn't mean we had nothing planned for him! We made an appointment with Dani to go to the racetrack in Huenstetten on Sunday. We weren't the only ones interested in letting their Basenjis race! This resulted in 19 Basenjis at the start! Wow! Tillo ran with Dorota's two girls, Kibibi and Aloua. And it was his first time to wear his muzzle.. he did great! Also Kibibi and Aloua did perfect. It was their first time ever to run after a lure, and, as true Basenjis, they understood what was expected right away! Another succesful and fun day!

Job made some pictures on both days. You can find them by clicking on the links.
